iSpy

iSpy

This is my iSpy! I thought this was such a neat and creative way to make your own class book. Or do a daily iSpy. You could even have your students make their own as a project and condense them into a book for the students to play with and collect them through the years of teaching. All you need are small unique items to put on colored, or pictured paper to make it more difficult, and a camera of some sorts. I used Power Point to add in the words. This is fun for most ages.

Paper Bag Fun

Paper Bag Fun

Here is a paper bag I printed on using Power Point. It took a while to figure out how to adjust the paper setting but I figured it out 4x8. You also have to flip the picture upside down according to what type of printer you have. This would be helpful for little gifts or kits for your students. What a neat way to print. Just make sure your printer can support this.

Post-it Notes

Post-It Notes

These are the Post-it notes I made on Power Point. These are helpful when it comes to needing to hand out little things or remind students of things that are due or upcoming. I really enjoyed making the post-it notes and found more great ideas, but decided to make a bunch of different ones to spice things up.

Collage

Collage of My Gameboard

This is just a collage of my Gameboard that I made. I made this collage with the picasa application. It is extremely helpful and can be used by students to show a subject or assignment. Lets say we have a trip to the zoo and every student has an animal that they have to tell about. Well first off would pictures of their experience at the zoo, and what they did.  The second part would be a collage with the animal they chose and what they learned about this animal at the zoo, and by researching. Overall a helpful tool.

Gameboard - Outerspace Math Arcade

Gameboard - Outerspace Math Arcade

This game is pretty "green" there are really no pieces you can lose. The game pieces can be used with candy of some sort as a place holder. The directions are in QR form and the dice are used as an app. And the main questions are in QR form on the actual gameboard. This game was made for 3rd grade math. As you will see in the directions, when you land on a star you get to scan a card which happens to be fifth grade math. It would also be interesting to add more grade levels to the challenges that way some kids get a freebie.

Currently

Currently

This "currently" picture is a good idea to figure out what students likes are and how to incorporate them into your lessons to make them more fun. You can either keep it in the electronic form for older grades or make print outs for the younger ones. I think this is very neat and can be modified into many ways

QR Code Game

QR Code Game - Math

I made this QR game out of powerade caps. Students get the math problem on the front and once they figure out the answer they can scan the back to see if they are right or wrong. You can also make it more interesting by making it a Face-up game on a game board, and whoever has them all face-up and correct first wins.

Buggy Pen

Buggy Pen Antibacterial Spray

This is my cover for my antibacterial spray. It makes the spray look less soap and more like something fun and creative to do. I think this is nice if you have children who are sick, or if you are sick. It is not easy to be sick so having a personally decorated one around would be nice.

Class Newsletter

Class Newsletter

These are my newsletters for class. The nice thing about them is they can be easily changed. You can add a line at the bottom in case it the newsletter has to be returned with a signature. You can also change them for the seasons. Right now mine is not filled out, but it is so easy to fill out. I did this on power point. It gives you more freedom than word.

Software App - SKITCH

Software App - SKITCH

This is the Skitch App. It is basically a way to edit a picture or point out things that need it. For instance in a class you could have a picture, and have a description written on the bottom on what the item is you're looking for and they would have to point it out. Basically you can use any picture and do anything to it. You can even highlight. I really enjoy this app if I am giving instruction and students need visual aids.

Business Cards

Business Cards

I made these business cards on word document. I made them as "Class Cash" to help reinforce good behavior. They are kind of like "Terrific Tickets" except you can use these as a monetary value. Students will get these tickets for good behavior, and once they have saved up enough they can use them to buy certain things, or privileges.

Index Cards

Index Cards

I used these index cards as a form of being knowledgeable of the book you are reading. Or if the student have a novel assignment where they have to write about the book, this will help remind them of what is happening during the book. It also serves as a bookmark, a reminder, and a goal keeper.

Scratch-off Cards

These are my scratch-off cards. I made them on power point. These cards can be used to reinforce good behavior. If a good act/behavior/job is performed a student may pick out a "Terrific Ticket", but the spin on it is that they have scratch-off liquid on top so the student has no clue as to what they are receiving for being good. It makes it more fun. I figured for my class I would hand these out during the week, and on Fridays would be our day to scratch them off. The liquid is made out of metallic acrylic paint mixed with dawn dishsoap, but I figure you can use any kind of acrylic paint.

Flashcards

Flashcards

Flashcards made on power point. More interesting cards can be more visually stimulating, and less of a bore. Can also be helpful if you have them categorized by design for certain classes/subjects.

Critical Thinking Son

I think this mom is 100% correct. Children now a days don’t have all of their; independent thinking, patience, privacy, art of conversation, or a sense of living in the moment. I know personally this is the way I feel things are moving with my generation and younger. I tend to keep an open mind when it comes to social media. I use it to find reviews on products, so I don’t end up buying a defective product. I do ask people opinions on whether they like something, but it is usually after I purchase that something. I understand the patience part, everything is so fast now, we don’t really rely on mail, if we have a question it can be answered just about instantly online. I am already not such a patient person, but I understand that is more occurring now in recent generations. Privacy is also an issue now too because if I meet someone I can just go online, look up their name, and voila I can find out a lot about them without even talking to them. I understand I have set aside my curtain of privacy when I created a Facebook, but anyone can clean their site up and shed a little of the curtain on themselves. Children now a days just don’t seem to understand that anyone can find out lots of information about them just by searching the internet. The art of conversation has also been compromised. I know when I enter a room of strangers and sit down, the first thing I do is grab my cell phone, and keep myself preoccupied. It is a rarity that people will start to talk amongst themselves. I sometimes find myself on my phone in a group of people I know, and realize I have not been paying attention to the conversation. I feel like conversation is now growing dismal unless it is over text, or social media. Last but not least is living in the moment. I know I can relate to the article when it comes to that. Whenever I get something new I tend to post it on instagram to share it with everyone, without even savoring it for myself. Even when people are out to eat, the first thing they do is take a picture of their food and post it online.
As a teacher all of this makes sense. For most of this article it means students are on their phone. And by having them in the classroom, its inevitable that students are going to be on them. So why not incorporate them into the class room, and teach etiquette that is now being lost; as shown in the article.
